Good Morning Neighbour! ☕

This week has very strong "check your pockets before leaving the house" energy.

Bank holiday plans? Ticket.
Polling day? Photo ID.
Wine tasting? Probably also ID, depending on how youthful you look.

In today's Good Morning Pinner:

  • May Day at the Manor brings a medieval-flavoured Bank Holiday Monday to Headstone Manor

  • Harrow goes to the polls on Thursday, with 55 councillors being elected across 22 wards

  • Mouse & Grape is making the case for chilled reds with cheese on Tuesday night

Let’s dive in.

This Week in HA5

A bank holiday, an election, and enough small local options to make staying in feel like a decision rather than the default.

  • May Day at the Manor is on Monday 4 May, 12pm to 5pm at Headstone Manor & Museum. This year has a medieval twist, with theatre, maypole dancing, music, craft activities, Morris dancers, food, drink and Duck Pond Market stalls. Book tickets

  • Polling day is Thursday 7 May, 7am to 10pm. Harrow is electing 55 councillors across 22 wards, and you need accepted photo ID if voting at a polling station. Election details

  • Pinner Music Festival has put its 2026 programme up. The 60th festival runs from 8 to 13 June at Pinner Parish Church, with tickets due from early May. One for the diary before June ambushes us. Programme

Local Business News

  • Mouse & Grape is running a Chilled Reds & Cheese tasting on Tuesday 5 May at 7pm. The evening covers lighter reds from Australia, South Africa, France and Chile, served slightly cooler and paired with cheese. A genuinely useful spring skill, especially if your current red-wine strategy is "room temperature and hope". Book here

  • Pinner / Ruislip Networking Brunch is listed for Wednesday 6 May, 10am at The Water's Edge, Ruislip Lido for local founders, freelancers and business owners.

  • Launching something local in May? Send it here and I will feature selected updates next issue.

Community Corner

  • Baby Bank donations are being collected locally for an upcoming support event. If you have baby items in good condition that could be rehomed, now is a useful time to sort the cupboard of tiny things.

  • Walking to Wellness is running at Harrow Viewpoint. It is a free six-week walking programme supported by TfL, with a focus on walking with poles, balance, strength and confidence.

  • Hatch End Station is still looking for summer flower-display volunteers. If you enjoy gardening, tidying, watering, or simply improving a station by 12%, this could be your moment.

  • Got a local June event, fair, school fundraiser or community callout? Send it this way before it gets swallowed by half-term logistics.

Transport

Metropolitan line bank holiday reminder: on Sunday 3 (today) and Monday 4 May, there is no service between Harrow-on-the-Hill and Amersham, Chesham or Watford. The Uxbridge branch is the more useful friend this weekend, but check before travelling if you are heading beyond Harrow. TfL status

Civic Updates

  • Harrow local elections are on Thursday 7 May 2026, 7am to 10pm. You will need accepted photo ID to vote at a polling station. Election details

  • Ward snapshot: Pinner voters are choosing 3 councillors from 14 candidates; Pinner South voters are choosing 3 from 13; Hatch End voters are choosing 2 from 8. Pinner candidates | Pinner South candidates | Hatch End candidates

  • The count takes place on Friday 8 May. Results will be published by Harrow Council as they are declared, which is democracy's version of refreshing a parcel-tracking page.

  • Harrow's Local Plan feedback window closes on Friday 8 May 2026 for people who took part in the examination process. Local Plan update

Pet of the Week

No pet entry this week, which means HA5's four-legged, feathered, scaly, floofy and deeply dramatic residents have a clear runway.

Think your pet deserves local fame, mild internet glory, and possibly a tiny ego problem? Send one photo, their name, and one chaotic personality trait this way.

Closing

Thank you for reading Good Morning Pinner today.

If you only do one useful thing this week, put your photo ID near your keys before Thursday. Future-you is already nodding gratefully.

See you next Sunday, same time, same place.

P.S. - If you found something useful, please share it with a neighbour!
