Good Morning Neighbour! ☕

After a week off, we are back with a useful little Sunday.

Ruislip Artisan Market is at Manor Farm today, Harrow Arts Centre and Roxeth Library have both landed improvement funding, and the Piccadilly line is making a bid for most annoying supporting character two weekends in a row.

In today's Good Morning Pinner:

  • Ruislip Artisan Market is at Manor Farm today

  • Harrow Arts Centre and Roxeth Library have secured improvement funding

  • The Piccadilly line has closures today and next weekend

Let’s dive in.

This Week in HA5

  • Ruislip Artisan Market is the Sunday one. Duck Pond Market is at Manor Farm today, Sunday 21 June, from 10am to 3pm, with food, crafts, homewares and small-business shopping. The classic "just going for a look" danger zone. Market details

  • Harrow Arts Centre and Roxeth Library have both landed funding boosts. HAC has secured £630,014 to restore the historic Rayners Building in Hatch End, while Roxeth Library has £110k for a makeover into a modern community hub by spring 2027. HAC funding | Roxeth Library funding

  • The Queen's Head has a paint night this Wednesday. Sip & Paint runs from 7pm, with no experience needed and materials included. Which is ideal, because "I once painted a bedroom wall badly" should absolutely count as prior artistic training. Book here

Local Business News

  • Gana Restaurant in Rayners Lane has reopened after a major refurb. The Sri Lankan and South Indian spot on Village Way East has a refreshed interior, updated frontage and the same core food offering regulars already know. More info

  • Spotted a new opening, refurb, hygiene-rating change, local offer, or shopfront mystery? Hit reply and send it over. Bonus points if it involves a sign going up and half the high street quietly trying to work out what it means.

  • And yes, it is back next weekend too: no Piccadilly service from King's Cross St Pancras to Northfields and Uxbridge on Saturday 27 and Sunday 28 June, including Saturday Night Tube. Friday Night Tube is also closed from King's Cross St Pancras to Heathrow.

Civic Updates

Smaller HMOs now need planning permission in Harrow. Harrow Council has brought in an Article 4 Direction, which means family homes can no longer be converted into smaller HMOs for three to six unrelated people under automatic permitted development rights. The council says it gives residents more oversight on issues such as parking, waste, local services and neighbourhood character. Read more

Pet of the Week

No crowned pet this week, which means the throne is sitting there with a tiny clipboard, waiting for applicants.

If your pet has recently been promoted to Head of Cushion Flattening, Director of Suspicious Noises, Senior Snack Forecaster or Chair of the Window Patrol Committee, hit reply with one photo, their name, and their unofficial job title.

Closing

Thank you for reading Good Morning Pinner today.

If you only do one sociable thing this week, make it paint night, a quiz, or the community event in Harrow. If you only do one practical thing, check the Piccadilly line before heading west next weekend. And if you only do one generous thing, nominate someone for Harrow's Heroes before the summer swallows your admin brain whole.

See you next Sunday, same time, same place.

P.S. - If you found something useful, please share it with a neighbour!
