This Week in HA5
The Pinner Association's Summer Band Concerts return to Pinner Memorial Park. Harrow Steel opens the season this Sunday at 2:30pm, with three more Sunday afternoons after that (Stardust Big Band, Nimesh Sanghoi sings Bollywood, and Simply Gray closing the series on 16 August). Bring a chair, a picnic, and a loose plan to make friends. Full dates and bands in Plan Ahead below. Pinner Association
Harrow's Heroes nominations close on Sunday 26 July. About a week left to put forward a volunteer, neighbour, scout leader, fundraiser or behind-the-scenes doer who deserves a thank you. Five minutes of admin for what could be a proper boost to someone's year. Nominate here
Pinner Village Gardens has earned a Green Flag Award. The park that hosts Junior Parkrun, the Welcome Space weekend and a sizeable chunk of Pinner's summer saunters has been recognised for the first time, alongside West Harrow Park. Together they take Harrow to a record 10 Green Flag parks in 2026. Read the Harrow Council piece

Local Business News
Hughes Pie & Mash on West End Road, Ruislip, served its last portion on Saturday. Generations of regulars queued through the day to send the shop off in proper style, with doors shutting a touch before the 3:30pm closing time after they sold out. The owners cited "unforeseen circumstances" on the day. If you ever queued for a late lunch there, this one stings.
Spotted a new opening, refurb, hygiene-rating change, local offer, or shopfront mystery? Hit reply and send it over. Bonus points if it involves a sign going up and half the high street quietly trying to work out what it means.

Community Corner
The Northwood Day Club opens at Northwood Cricket Club on Thursday 23 July. Free daytime sessions for older neighbours and parents who would enjoy more social connection and gentle activities, weekday daytime running from launch. Worth passing on to anyone you think would enjoy it.
Ruislip Rangers U9 Whites are still looking for next-season trialists. A new U9 Whites team is forming for children moving into School Year 4 in September 2026. If your child fancies a kickabout with a friendly local club, this is the moment to get in touch.

Transport
Today's tube map (Sun 19 Jul). Piccadilly: part closure Cockfosters to King's Cross St. Pancras, severe delays on the line, and part-suspended between Rayners Lane and Uxbridge. Give yourself extra time if your Sunday involves Heathrow, Uxbridge, or the western arm.
Week ahead (Mon 20 to Sat 25 Jul). No planned Piccadilly or Metropolitan works on the sections serving Pinner and the surrounding area for this stretch. Worth a quick check the morning of travel for any last-minute wobbles.
Civic Updates
Green Flag is the headline out of Harrow Council this week. Pinner Village Gardens and West Harrow Park have both picked up their first Green Flag Awards, taking the borough to a record 10. Full story up in This Week in HA5.
Pet of the Week
This week's star is Luna, an affectionate lapcat shared by Chris B.

Say hi to Luna!
📸 Chris
Luna runs a tight two-pillar household policy: lap-based affection, and roast-chicken diplomacy. She has elevated napping in the garden to a near-professional pursuit, with a soft spot for any sunny patch and a stronger spot for anyone who walks past carrying leftovers. Bring chicken, mention nothing about it, and let Luna do the rest.
Want your pet to take the highly unofficial GMP crown next week? Hit reply with one photo, their name, and the tiny household role they have appointed themselves to.
