Good Morning Neighbour! ☕

Sunday 6 September is shaping up as the headline day of the fortnight, with a free community festival in Roxbourne Park and the return of the Duck Pond Market at Manor Farm landing on the same morning. Add in a brand new Village Show at Pinner Memorial Park the week after, and there is a real case for booking two Sundays off in a row.

In today's Good Morning Pinner:

  • ROXYFest fills Roxbourne Park on 6 September with free live music, food stalls and family rides

  • The Duck Pond Market is back at Manor Farm on the same Sunday, 10am to 3pm

  • Pinner Rotary's Village Show lands at the Memorial Park on Saturday 12 September with Punch and Judy and live music from Simply Gray

Let’s dive in.

This Week around HA5

  • Sunday 6 September is a double-header day in the western patch. From mid-morning, the Duck Pond Market is back at Manor Farm with its usual mix of local makers, street food and coffee vans, free entry and free parking. From lunchtime, ROXYFest takes over Roxbourne Park with live music, family rides, food stalls and a community-stage feel, also free. Worth pencilling both in if you have been looking for a reason to leave the house that weekend.

  • Pinner Post Office inside the Bridge Street TG Jones is closing on Wednesday 14 October. The local Post Office is one of those affected by the TG Jones restructuring announcement, and the Post Office says it is in the early stages of reviewing applications to keep a branch running in Pinner, with a further update to follow. Full details, including the two nearest alternative branches, in Local Business News below.

  • A free Baby and Child First Aid class lands at Harrow Arts Centre on Sunday 6 September. Two and a half hours, £30 a ticket, aimed at parents, grandparents and carers. Useful booking window before the new school year starts.

Community Corner

Seen a local sign, mystery shopfront, very specific noticeboard drama or useful community callout? Hit reply and send it over. These are the tiny things that make this newsletter much more fun than a spreadsheet wearing shoes.

Civic Updates

Bank holiday Monday ahead. The summer bank holiday lands this Monday, which is worth knowing if you usually rely on the council offices, library opening hours or a weekday bin collection. Quickest way to check your bin day is the postcode calendar on the Harrow website.

Transport

  • This weekend: the Metropolitan line is part suspended between Harrow-on-the-Hill and Aldgate today, with severe delays across the rest of the line because of a large fire at a recycling plant near Neasden. Full service is not expected back until early afternoon. London Underground tickets are being accepted on London Buses, the Lioness line, London Northwestern Railway and Thameslink while the disruption continues. Check the TfL status page before you set off.

  • Next weekend: no planned engineering works on the Metropolitan or Piccadilly lines for 5 or 6 September per TfL's planned-track-closures schedule, so it should be a clean run to either ROXYFest at Roxbourne Park or the Duck Pond Market at Manor Farm.

Pet of the Week

Want your pet to take the highly unofficial GMP crown next week? Hit reply with one photo, their name, and the tiny household role they have appointed themselves to.

Inspiration from previous winners: Pepper the Glossy-Coat Inspector, the Junior Train Inspector at the Miniature Railway, or a certain Head of Roast-Chicken Diplomacy. Whether yours is Chief Garden Inspector (Leaves Edition), Head of Biscuit Security, or Professional Crumb Detector, we want to hear about it.
