Good Morning Neighbour! ☕

A weekend with one less line than usual for anyone flying out of Heathrow; a small Pinner shop taking home a national award; and a south-Harrow family with a quiet ask.

In today's Good Morning Pinner:

  • The Piccadilly line stops short of Heathrow this weekend, with replacement buses running from Hammersmith

  • Mouse & Grape's Jessica Summer on two years on Marsh Road and a Best Cheesemonger 2026 award

  • A south-Harrow family is appealing for stem cell donors to help a former resident

Let’s dive in.

This Week around HA5

  • Roxbourne Railway's Ghost Train runs on Sunday afternoon, 1pm-4pm. Costumes welcome at this small community railway in Roxbourne Park, Field End Road, HA4 9PB. Rides are £2 each, no booking needed. One of the easier half-term outings in the patch.

  • Hillingdon Council has just dropped a packed October half-term programme. Harry Potter Book Day, theatre workshops and Halloween crafts are running across the borough through to the end of next weekend. A handy one for parents still putting plans together.

Meet the Lovely Humans

This week's lovely human is Jessica Summer, sommelier and cheesemonger, who opened Mouse & Grape on Marsh Road in November 2024 and was recently crowned Best Cheesemonger 2026.

"Hi, I'm Jessica, founder of Mouse & Grape! We opened in Pinner in November 2024, so we're coming up to our second birthday, although Mouse & Grape itself is nearly five years old. We started online, selling cheese and wine hampers nationwide and hosting events in people's homes and businesses, something we still do today."

The bit she secretly loves most: there is not much of a secret about how much she loves what she does. "Mouse & Grape grew from my passion for cheese, wine and bringing people together," she says. "Watching people enjoy something I've created makes it all worthwhile."

The best-kept secret regulars swear by: the cheese and wine pairings. Tell them what you like, or let the team surprise you, and they will find something delicious you might not have chosen yourself. The cheeseboards are, by her own admission, rather generous.

When she's off-duty, you'll most often find her at The Grocer, for the coffee, the garden and a sausage roll that is, in her words, "a bit of a cheeky treat."

She started Mouse & Grape because so many places celebrate wine, and so many celebrate cheese, but very few give both the same attention. The shop runs guided tastings, private celebrations and community events, with an upstairs space for bringing people together. Cheese and wine hampers still ship nationwide.

Community Corner

A south-Harrow family is appealing for stem cell donors to help save a former resident's life. A donor event has been organised locally, with the simplest first step being to register with DKMS. If you can help, the family would love to hear from you. Details

Civic Updates

Plans for a 97-bedroom care home on the former Vernon Lodge site in Harrow Weald are facing objections from residents. Concerns raised include size, scale, traffic and loss of mature trees. Harrow Council has logged the application as still under consideration. Details

  • This weekend: the Piccadilly line has engineering works between Hammersmith and Heathrow (all terminals) / Uxbridge until end of service today. Replacement buses PL1, PL3, PL4 and PL7 cover the gap. The Metropolitan line is on good service into central London from Pinner.

  • Next weekend (Sat 24 and Sun 25 October): no planned engineering works are flagged for the Piccadilly or Metropolitan lines. Both running normal service.
