Good Morning Neighbour! ☕

Saturday night in Harrow is going to be loud, and there is a Remembrance Sunday service on the High Street to get to as well. Plus one council decision that is going to cost Eastcote and Ruislip drivers more next year.

In today's Good Morning Pinner:

  • The Harrow Fireworks Display returns to Byron Park on Saturday night

  • Remembrance Sunday is on, with a service on Pinner High Street

  • Hillingdon has approved parking rises of more than 70% for residents in Eastcote, Ruislip and Northwood

Let’s dive in.

This Week around HA5

  • Remembrance Sunday is this Sunday, 8 November. The Pinner service runs from 10.40am to 11.30am at the War Memorial on the High Street, Harrow's parade steps off from Greenhill Way at 10.15am and makes its way to the war memorial on St Ann's Road, and Edgware gathers at 10am. The whole country stops for two minutes at 11am, and traffic on the parade route is held while it passes. Details

  • Harrow's Christmas lights switch-on dates are out, with seven centres lit between 28 November and 11 December. Harrow Town Centre goes first, on Saturday 28 November with the switch-on at 5pm, then South Harrow on the 30th, Stanmore on 1 December at 5pm, Sudbury Hill on 2 December at 5.15pm, Rayners Lane the same evening at 6pm, Hatch End on 3 December at 4pm, and North Harrow on 11 December at 5pm. The decorations mark Christmas, Diwali and Hanukkah. Pinner is not on the council's list, so that date is still to come. Details

Civic Updates

  • Hillingdon Council has approved a parking rise that lands hardest on Eastcote, Ruislip and Northwood. Cabinet signed off the new tariff on 22 October, and the new rates land in 2027. On-street pay-and-display prices rise in every time band, with an hour going from £1.50 to £2.60 and two hours from £3.30 to £5.70, while the Hillingdon First resident discount falls from around 40% to 10%. For residents that works out at more than 70% more to pay, and it comes less than a year after the April 2026 increase. South Ruislip sees smaller rises. Details

  • The consultation on the North Harrow junction closes tomorrow. The proposal for the Pinner Road and Station Road junction includes controlled pedestrian crossings on all four sides, wider pavements, better cycle facilities, a dedicated cycle crossing and restrictions on some vehicle turns. Comments close on Monday 2 November. Details

  • Harrow's rules for parks and public spaces are still open for comment until Sunday 15 November, if you have not already had your say. Consultation

Transport

  • Today: the Piccadilly is still shut along its entire length, with the works running to the end of today. Replacement buses PL1 to PL6 are covering the gap, and the Metropolitan is running between Rayners Lane and Uxbridge. If you are heading into central London today, the Metropolitan from Pinner is your line.

  • This week and next weekend (7 and 8 November): no engineering works are flagged for the Piccadilly or the Metropolitan, and the Piccadilly goes back to normal service from Monday morning.
