Good Morning Neighbour! ☕

Let’s dive in.

You may have seen something called "What 3 Words" on some websites. Today is the day I finally found out what it is. With just three words, you can pinpoint a location anywhere in the world with mind-blowing accuracy. Just make sure you have the words right, you might end up on a different continent.

I also want to say a big thank you to all who responded to the previous email about how they found the newsletter useful and shared encouraging words. It made my Sunday!

In today’s Good Morning Pinner:

  • Improved night transport from central London

  • A 100th birthday celebration for a much-loved Pinner Scout leader

  • Meet a local Pilates studio owner

- Chinar

This Week in HA5

  • Pink recycling bins arrive at North Harrow Community Library for recycling electronics. Here you can drop off items smaller than a four-slice toaster. This includes items like cameras, headphones, cables and more. Full details on recyclable items here.

  • It is now easier to reach home from central London at night with the introduction of the new N118 night bus route from Trafalgar Square to Ruislip. The service runs every 15 minutes on Fridays and Saturdays, and every 30 minutes on other days. Full route here.

  • Pinner resident Fred Beard celebrated a remarkable milestone on January 8, marking his 100th birthday surrounded by generations of the Scouting family he has supported for more than six decades. Mr Beard has been involved with the 5th Pinner Scout Group for over 60 years, becoming a familiar and much-loved figure within the local community. Beavers, Cubs, Scouts, leaders and parents marched up to Mr Beard’s home, where they gathered on his driveway to sing “Happy Birthday” and share cake together. Shared by Proud of Pinner.

Local Business News

  • The Whittington is looking for a part-time Team Leader for their Flaming Grill in Pinner. Full details here.

Meet the Lovely Humans

Say hello to the lovely human at Bambusa Pilates

Karen has lived in Pinner for 22 years and has been running Bambusa Pilates for the past five. What started as a love for movement has grown into a welcoming local studio focused on helping people feel stronger, healthier, and more connected to their bodies.

Karen from Bambusa Pilates

Her favourite part of the job is seeing people enjoy themselves while moving and knowing they’re improving their health at the same time.

Her top tip: Practice your footwork. It makes more difference than you think.

When she's not busy at Bambusa, you'll find her taking a walk around Ruislip Lido, or at the Harrow Arts Centre café (which Karen swears has the best coffee). "We often go there after class!" she says. Anything for a good coffee.

Pilates helps you understand both your body and mind, so you can stay strong for the long term. Bambusa also offers Chair Pilates, ideal for anyone who finds mat-based exercise challenging. All her classes are small, friendly, and welcoming.

Civic Updates

  • Elections across all Harrow wards take place on Thursday 7 May 2026, with 55 councillors elected to represent our 22 wards. Make sure you have registered to vote. Postal voters need to reapply every 3 years. All postal voters who applied before 30 January 2024 must reapply by 31 January 2026.

  • Round 2 of Harrow Council's Bringing Buildings Back to Life is underway. This aims to bring investment into disused buildings across the borough. If you are a business looking for a green space to run community-focused activities, this is worth checking out. Apply before the round closes on 2 March!

  • Harrow Council is running an Active Participation Survey to inform their Active Wellbeing Strategy. This strategy is aimed at helping residents move more, feel better, and enjoy healthier, more fulfilling lives. The survey closes on 21 January.

Transport

  • Piccadilly line is closed this weekend. Plan alternatives if you’re heading into central London.

  • Metropolitan line is running today, but next weekend brings partial closures (yes, back to the usual routine). No service between Baker Street and Aldgate.

  • Hammersmith & City and Circle lines also have no service next weekend.

Next Sunday, a total of 10 lines are affected. According to TfL, there’s still “good service on all other lines”. Leaves us guessing which ones those are!

Dog of the Week

(Something to cheer you up after reading about all the service disruptions.)

Say hi to Goose!
📸 Heather’s Hounds

Gooseberry (Goose for short!) is my 8-year-old dachshund and very much the heart of Heather’s Hounds. She came to me through the rescue centre Dogs Trust after being seized at the border as an unauthorised import when she was just six weeks old. Goose was incredibly sick and very nervous when she was rescued, so she was adopted through a foster scheme to give her the time and support she needed to heal and gain confidence.

With patience and care, she blossomed into the happy, content dog she is today. Goose now spends her days surrounded by her dog friends, happily hanging out and soaking up the busy, social environment that she absolutely loves.
